Blue Tree Acoustics Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) #3

During Sound Insulation tests, Which rooms are tested? Are sound tests only conducted between bedrooms and living rooms?

The Approved Document states that it is preferable that each set of tests contains individual tests in bedrooms and living rooms.

These are the most commonly used rooms and are usually of a reasonable size. For these reasons they are preferable.

However, any rooms can be tested, the critical requirement is that on either side of the separating element, is a room. Testing should not be undertaken into halls or stairs, but from a room, to a room.

If a room is less that 25m3 then the room volumes should be recorded. This is because small testing small room volumes can lead to strange results.
